Friday Scrapbooking – Beach Mini Album- (con’t)

20160708_231339000_iOS

Yay!  Crafty Scrapsniffin’ friday!!!

It was a rainy poury friday as well! But I made it home fairly dry! Just in time to write this up!

I know it hasn’t been the happiest of weeks as we are all aware.  I won’t get into that here, but the prayer warriors are busy! And though it’s so hard, we shouldn’t worry because God’s hand is on everything. 🙂 But I love seeing my friends becoming more connected in the midst of these tragedies. I love how they are using it for good. I love how it’s encouraging people to spread the Gospel and be bold!

And I love that we have these creative outlets to get zoned into!

Today I decided to work on my Mini Beach album… from a couple years ago…  I did some pages last summer… but haven’t really pulled it out since…  so here goes!

image

For the bottom of the pages, I used this texture paste with a palate knife  and kinda spread it and then tapped on it to make more … texture. Lol.  And then I sprinkled some pale glitter over top… just coz… ya know… glitter.

Here’s a link to the exact paste I used:

Heidi Swapp Texture paste in Gold

The other stuff was either from my stash or too old for me to remember where I got it.  Lol.  Actually, I shouldn’t say that…  but it’s mostly basic stuff like watercolor… sequins… black pen… foam adhesive.

image

So there’s not much goin into this album overall… like I babble about in the video, I love mini albums because they usually follow a theme, so it makes it easier to embellish because you don’t have to re-invent every page.

image

So this came together really quickly and with minimal brain power. And when you have nice sunny pics, there really isn’t too much needed to support em.

So here’s my process:

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend and spends some time getting creative!!

More Summer Art

Well… this was supposed to be within the realm of the hashtag #LoveSummerArt party, but youtube decided it didn’t want to upload my video till wednesday… so it missed the cut-off!

But none the less, it is an update to my Mini Beach Album!

image

These pages feature Norah and Eleanor again. The left photo being my favorite from the whole bunch all together…

image

These pages use a lot of gel medium in matte.  I kinda use it to hold the whole thing together.

image

Also in use are the following:

Stamps, mists, misc. book pages, scrapbook paper, a piece of flair, stamps, thread, a couple brads, black india ink, watercolor, and a very delicate die cut made by my Silhouette.  LOVE THAT MACHINE!!!

And here is the process vid!

#LoveSummerArt

So there’s this amazing Hashtag Party goin’ on this weekend and it’s all kinds of Artastic!!  #LOVESUMMERART

image

If you’re an artist/creator youtuber, you can join the facebook group here: Youtube Channel Art and Crafts

If you are not a youtube creator and just want to enjoy the Arty vids, then just simply type in the hashtag #LoveSummerArt in the search bar on youtube and see what comes up!  I happened upon this by accident really… lol.  So as usual, I had like a day to come up with something… but it gave me an opportunity to pick up something I started and never finished.

So here is my #LoveSummerArt vid:

I had started a “beach” mini last June, and then with all the moving that went on this year, my arts and crafts were mostly in boxes so I never got the chance to finish it, but now that I’m back in business, I’m aiming to get it done within the next couple weeks.

I used this printable canvas for the cover image as well as an image of my daughter and my neice running on the beach.

image

Love this stuff! I use it for sewing projects, but it also works great for scrapbooking. This brand was a bit sturdier than I like it to be for sewing projects, but it’s great for this purpose. It’s made by Printworks.

image

So I did one 2 page layout using that large canvas photo of my daughter and my neice, and another 2 page layout using 4 photos of my daughter and nephews.

image

It was so much fun, I hope to get another video up by monday… or perhaps Roo might wanna do one too…  Weekends are always super busy so it’s hard to get stuff together, but we will try!

image

So anyway, we will surely share whatever we come up with next!  Have a great week!

Queen Norma and the April Youtube Layout Hop

We all have pets.  Whether it be an animal or not is something else.  It could be an insect… like how every time Eleanor finds a stink bug she captures it,  and names it Cliffy after our late Boston Terrior, and forces it to live in Minnie Mouse’s playhouse, a fish bowl, or an empty fruit snacks box. (Whatever the home of choice is at the moment, it never makes it through the night).

Or I guess I could turn the pointer to myself since I have a pet rock Kevin.

Here’s the pic of him I used for my last post.  Apparently, it’s the only one I can find in my media library right now.  And I’m too lazy to go upstairs and snap a new one.

So back to pets that are actually animals… like the ewesh… ya know, cats and dogs…  They are quite special and make quite a dent in our emotional lives.  So I was very excited when this month’s YouTube Layout Hop’s theme was pets.

If you haven’t heard about the Hop, it’s a monthly event that’s almost at it’s 3rd birthday.  It was founded by Xochitl Zoe Aparicio aka Zoe CraftyX.  It’s like a show and tell of scrapbooking, cards, mixed media, smashing… etc.  Anyone is welcome to join in.  Let me know if you’re interested, I can direct you to the facebook group page.  And the best part is, there’s a sponsor every month so some lucky commenter  wins a prize.

Fitty-madebyfitty-scrapbooking-american crafts-studio calico-mixed media-pets-norma-dogs-layout-scrap-service-04

So I had to do a mixed media for a Studio Calico class a couple weeks ago, so I figured the textures would work well with a doggie photo.  Although since Roo donned Norma Queen of Arendelle, pink sparkles and silver glitter probably would’ve also worked.  (ok, so I just typed Arendelle into a facebook search to check the spelling… and I just found out that I can request friendship with Elsa and Anna. And probably the others I’m sure…  wait..  they’re not real right?)

So this layout uses the following:

– Gesso

– Mr. Hueys Mists

– Some masking with stencils

– Modeling paste

– bit of layering

– nip of doodling

– tid of twine

It’s actually such a coincidence that the Hop’s theme was pets this month because it’s Norma’s BIRTHDAY TODAY!

So Happy 10th Birthday Norms!  We love you and thank you for all your patience letting Eleanor use you as a headwear model… ( and all that other stuff too  🙂

And here’s my vid for the YTLH!

Have  a great week everyone!

Oh yea… forgot about that…

Meanwhile, in BlogUniversity…

Today’s challenge is to write a post about something that inspired us while re-working our “about me” pages.  Well… not that this blog is meant to be humorous, but when forced to think about myself, the first thing that comes to mind is just a good pile of silly.  So I was inspired to write more about the “silly” in my life.

1239771_634898763216993_1934159583_n

And by write, I really mean show.  So this post might be cheating because I’m doing more of a visual post then a well thought out lots of words post…  but I like visual.

If you’re my facebook friend, this is the usual stuff I post… I try not to get too personal on facebook… because well you know… conspiracy and world domination and that sorta thing.   No, I will not tell you all the cities I’ve lived in before you could track it through my photos!!

So that’s Norma up there is the fab wig.  She was getting ready for her date with the pile of clothes on the laundry room floor.

This next pic is a bit of a fib because it’s not my dog.  It lives on my sister’s parents-in-law’s farm.  And by golly, I’ve never seen a do like that on a dog before in my life.  It begged to be photographed and pointed out!

And here we have me shopping myself into a Natalie Dee pic.  My goto gal for a quick pick me up laugh.  I give her full credit for this work.  Please visit:  Nataliedee.com

This pic was in response to this frog takeover that was happening at my house.  We’d get home at night and they were EVERYWHERE!  It was nutty.  I hope it happens again.  They were so small and cute!  Who doesn’t love FROGS!  KERMIT PEOPLE!

1016651_613767861996750_1565889926_nAnd this is my best rock fren Kevin ( for those of you new here, my word for Friend is Fren.  I’m not a stellar speller, but I do know how to spell friend on Wednesdays)

So Kevin doesn’t share my enthusiasm for Sprinkles.  End of story.

1017470_588609867845883_659307621_nAnd here’s some un-delicious Pizza.

That’s all the pics I could find right now due to my spectacular fall down the stairs yesterday while carrying a decorative bin and my hard drive full of pics.  I bounced on a few steps.  The hard drive didn’t “bounce” as well as I.  It lost some pieces.  Cracked itself up if you will.  I shouldn’t even add this, but that was not my first time falling while carrying it! So I was already having to hold the usb cable onto it to keep it from falling out while I retrieved files from it.  So this time… I haven’t been successful yet as to find a way to get it to work again.  May need professional help…

Photo share: All dressed up and goin’ nowhere

Some of you have little girls.  And some of you have little GIRLS!  I never in a million years thought I would have such a little girly girliest of the girls girl.  There is nothing TOM or BOY about it.  It’s a dress everyday no matter what we’re doing.  Like today for instance…

photo

My mom bought this Barbie Jeep from a yard sale last summer, but it didn’t have a battery. She kept it at her house but now that she’s moving, we inherited it. It doesn’t seem to bother Eleanor in the least that it doesn’t go anywhere, she still decided to get dressed and go for a “ride”.

And a bonus feature is the car phone. Not sure how I feel about this… Are we just training our kids to use the phone while they drive? Oh who am I kidding… they’ll have it hard wired to their hands free brains by the time she gets her license.

And I’m afraid Norma gets to ride shotgun and listen to the “pretend” music that Eleanor is singing at the top of her lungs with whether she likes it or not.

image

I’m pretty lucky that this kid can entertain herself anywhere, anytime, with anything… As long as she has access to her dress collection, she’s good. I could really learn from her. Every time I’m stressed about life… I could probably just put on my party dress and dance away the blues.

I do plan on getting a battery for that car before summer… we’ll see.

Saturday morning Jam session

2014-01-04T13-11-59_0

Sometimes I think I’m as addicted to my kid as I am to coffee.

I don’t really care to waste time wondering if that’s good to bad, but in the meantime… I thought it’d be nice if we had some photos of us doin’ what we do when we’re hanging at home on a saturday morning.  This jam session happened after we built a snow fort in the living room.  We froze our toes off the day before so I decided to be lazy and just bring the snow in so I could enjoy coffee and the couch while she enjoyed the snow.

I think it’s important to stop organizing, stop packing, stop worrying, stop everything and just enjoy being exactly where you are right this moment.

I usually forget that and just run around the house like an  angry person and stay up all night fretting and scheming.
So for my new year, I’m going to not plan to do anything or stop doing anything.  I’m going to just try to remember to enjoy what I have today, and realize that I can live with much less.

And I’m going to put down all the sad pages…

2014-01-04T14-07-58_0

2014-01-04T13-57-30_0

Along with the happy ones.

I’m still trying to get my december daily mini album finished, so I’ll get to that…  it’s just these darn impromptu photo shoots that get me side-tracked!

2014-01-04T13-35-14_0

I feel like I don’t know what the heck I scrapbooked about before Eleanor?  I don’t know what I did? lol.  I know all parents say it, but it’s so true…  have no clue what life used to be before I had a kid.  All I do know is that it’s so much better.  No matter what hard times we’re going through.

All dressed in Vintage

BM-house-01

So I had the awesome pleasure of playing photographer for a beautiful friends wedding. I still have around a billionty more pics to edit… But for now I just thought I’d share a couple with the brides permission… Without revealing people or places… Just yet anyway.

image

What was awesome about this wedding was that the dress was in its third generation of brides… From grandma to mom to daughter… So sweet! Of course by this round,it needed a little TLC… But it was absolutely gorgeous!
My fav was the tule underskirt…

image

And the veil was a simple classic style… brilliant!

image

I have to hand it to you photographers out there… It’s a week later, and I’m still sore.  That’s probably the most excercise I’ve gotten in years!  If anyone else ever asks me to be the wedding photog…  I think I’ll need to train a bit first.  Holy bajeez what a work-out!  And probably more fun than flipping tires…  at least in my opinion.  I could be wrong because I’ve never actually flipped a tire… lol.  But I know a lot of people who do it on a regular basis…

image

To me, fall is the best time of year and what was supposed to be a rainy day turned out to be absolutely perfect!! Who knows though… in a few years, fall could be in january.  Which would be cool cos that’s my b-day month… tee hee…  then I could have a Halloween birthday party!

image

So overall, it was an awesome day and I was honored to be a part of it.  Congrats Meg!  You made a perfect bride and I hope your new life chapter brings happiness, joy, and blessings!

xo, Fitty

Pictures of Eleanor – Jackson Park

Jackson Park

I think the only way to stop me from taking pictures of Eleanor everywhere she goes is to get a puppy, or have another kid. I don’t know if it’s because I just like taking pictures… or that she’s always a willing and pose-able subject… or it’s just a mom thing. I honestly thought I’d get tired of taking her picture by now… but I honestly feel like she gets more beautiful everyday. (That’s def. a mom thing…)

JP2

So anyway… I usually do a lot of APP editing to my photos. So the previous two photos I ran through one of my fav. photo apps called Phototoaster. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before..
But here’s one of the photos in the raw below so you can see the diff. I didn’t do much, just added one filter called Aquatic. ( my favorite filter I’ve ever come across in any app!! Who doesn’t wanna look like they’re in water? Not anyone I know!) So I think this one filter added so much! It pulled her out of all that green background and really made her the feature.

IMG_2694

So there are a lot of cool filters in this app… you can mess with it on your own, or they have pre-sets. Very worth the $1.99 for the 5.0 version. I’ve used the fiddlesticks out of it! I think photo apps are the only ones I pay for. Especially if you scrapbook… and are doing project life or smashing… or any of that… it’s the quickest way to edit aside from pluggin’ your camera into your computer. And most of ya’ll know how to print from your mobile devices so… what’s the prob. Spend a dollar and save your memories in a artsy way! Didn’t you just spend $1.82 on a bagel this morning? And that’s gone already isn’t it??? …thought so.

The following photos are not edited.. but I might still go back and play with em’.  I have to go through the other 70 and see if any are print-worthy.

IMG_2712

OH, and lemme just plug another app while I’m at it. Though this series of pictures were not edited, I did throw them into a collage app called DIPTIC. It’s basically just that… a collage app, but you can move your frames around which comes in handy. And I think you can add text… (honestly haven’t used it that much…) And it’s FREE!

diidiidid

I was actually shooting in monochrome for the first half of the park visit… which I normally don’t do. I don’t know why, but I tend to edit the color mostly after… but I like the way the monochrome ones shot…

IMG_2615

And the hair-style she’s sporting is called… combed out after being in a bun for two days! I actually trimed it a bit this morning due to many many knots. So it was fluffier than usual.

Well I’m gonna put my cheese and crackers away and call it a night!
